Typical aim test result
If your average is between 350 and 600 ms per target, you are where many mouse users land. Under 300 ms is fast, and touch or trackpad runs usually read slower.
Speed against accuracy
If your accuracy drops below 90 percent, you are moving faster than you can aim. Slow down slightly and compare the total time, because fewer misses often gives a better average.
Field size and settings
If runs vary a lot, check the window size, zoom, and pointer speed. Target distance depends on the field, so compare runs at the same size and settings.
Troubleshooting
If the test fails, try these in order.
Keep the whole field on screen
Browser zoom, an on-screen keyboard, or a split screen shrinks the field and changes the run. Fix the layout and start again.
Repeat after a tab switch
Leaving the tab stops the run. Come back and click the target to start over.
Check pointer tracking
If the cursor skips or clicks fail, run the mouse test for buttons and movement, then retest here.
Keep settings the same
Pointer speed, acceleration, DPI, and display scaling all change the task. Keep them fixed between runs and retest.
What this test can't tell you
Where a browser check stops.
- The result includes your movement, the mouse or touch screen, pointer settings, and the browser. It is not a direct measure of sensor accuracy or latency.
- Runs that hit targets with Enter or Space are labelled as keyboard runs and are not comparable with pointer runs.
- Runs at different field sizes or on different input devices cannot be compared directly.
