How to use
3 short steps.
Pick a sheet
Click Black and white for a quick ink check, Color for the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black blocks, or Full for every pattern.
Check the print dialog
Choose your printer, match A4 or Letter, set scale to 100%, and turn off headers and footers.
Inspect the printed page
Let the ink dry, then look for gaps, streaks, faded blocks, broken lines, and blurred small text.
What the result means
Match what you see to one of these.
If black streaks or fades
If the black blocks are patchy or show white lines, the black cartridge is low or a nozzle is blocked. Run the printer's clean cycle, then print the black and white page again.
If a color is faint or missing
If cyan, magenta, or yellow prints weak or not at all, that cartridge is empty, dry, or clogged. Shades also shift with paper and driver settings, so this page shows faults, not exact color accuracy.
If the grid or crosshair looks offset
If lines print doubled or stepped, or the colored rings do not sit inside each other, the print heads are misaligned. The page shows the misalignment but cannot fix it; use the printer's alignment tool.
Troubleshooting
If the test fails, try these in order.
Nothing prints
Check the printer is on, has paper, shows no error light, and is the one selected in the dialog. Clear paused jobs in the print queue, then print the black and white page again.
The page is cropped or scaled
Set the same paper size here and in the dialog, choose 100% or Actual size, and turn off headers, footers, and fit to page. Print the full page again.
It prints black but not color
Check that the color cartridges are seated and not empty, run the printer's clean cycle, and make sure the driver is not set to grayscale or draft. Print the color page again.
Streaks, gaps, or misaligned lines
Run head cleaning and then alignment from the printer's control panel or its app. Print the full test page again and compare the two sheets.
What this test can't tell you
Where a browser check stops.
- The browser cannot see your printer, its ink levels, or whether the job printed. Only the paper tells you that.
- The color blocks are RGB screen colors labelled with ink names. They reveal a missing or streaky color but are not a calibrated CMYK proof.

How do I print a test page on Windows?
Open Settings, then Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners, choose your printer, and click Print test page. On Windows 10 the button is under Manage. Or click one of the buttons above to print this page from the browser.
How do I print a test page on a Mac?
Open System Settings, then Printers & Scanners, choose the printer, click Options & Supplies, then Utility and Open Printer Utility. Not every driver offers a test page, so if yours does not, print this page instead.
How do I run my printer's own self-test page?
Most printers print a self-test or nozzle check from the control panel under Setup, Tools, Reports, or Maintenance, including HP, Canon, Epson, and Brother models. Some print it when you hold the power or resume button for a few seconds; check the manual for yours.
Why does my printer print black but not color?
Usually the color cartridges are empty, dried out, or clogged, or the driver is set to grayscale. Check the ink levels, run a clean cycle, switch the driver back to color, then print the color test page above.
Do I need any software or a specific printer brand?
No. The page prints from your browser through the normal print dialog and works with any printer your computer can print to, including HP, Canon, Epson, and Brother.
