If the maximum reaches 10, your screen supports full multi-touch
Ten is the standard for phones and most tablets. Pinch, rotate, and multi-finger gestures have all the touch points they need.
If the maximum stops at 5, the screen may support only five points
Some budget phones, tablets, and laptop screens are limited to five touch points. Check the specification before suspecting a fault.
If a finger on the screen shows no circle, that touch was missed
Spread your fingers apart and try again. A finger that never registers anywhere points to a screen fault or a merged contact.

Stay away from the edges

Gloves, wet fingers, and a thick protector reduce touch detection. Retest with bare, dry fingers.
Check the specification, then retest
